Rodney McCarter brings veteran range, thump, and back-end reliability to JMU
In the latest JMU roster notes, Rodney McCarter is a returning senior safety who’s described as a hard-hitting defender with good speed and pass coverage skills, but he also dealt with injury issues in spring work, which is the only real flag on the profile[1]. That combination makes him valuable for a defense that wants physicality without sacrificing range; if healthy, he looks like the kind of steady, tone-setting safety who can fit cleanly into an aggressive system and raise the level of the secondary[1].
