Trenton Roehler brings swing-and-miss upside, but consistency is the question
In the 2026 season, Illinois State right-hander Trenton Roehler flashed real strikeout ability, including a six-strikeout, five-inning outing against Western Illinois, but his overall results were uneven and his run prevention was inconsistent. The appeal is the arm talent: he can miss bats, work into games, and give a lineup a tougher look than his 5'9" frame might suggest. The risk is volatility—his 2026 line showed a 6.16 ERA across 30.2 innings, so he looks more like a developmental piece than a finished product.
