Southern Miss DB with a chance to carve out a niche in a competitive secondary
Alex Ray is a Southern Miss defensive back worth watching because the value of a DB often shows up in coverage discipline, tackling reliability, and special-teams readiness more than raw box-score stats. I could not verify strong public stat-leader or award data for Ray in the available sources, so the key takeaway is that he appears to be more of a role-projection player than a proven headline producer right now. For a team, that means he fits best if you need a gritty, coachable defensive back who can compete for snaps and add depth rather than instantly anchor a secondary.
