Veteran depth piece with a safety-first profile
Jerry Chaney’s profile is that of a seasoned San Diego State safety who brings experience, physicality, and versatility after originally being recruited as a wide receiver and then moving to defense. In the 2024-25 era of the program’s roster listings, he’s best understood as a reliable depth option rather than a stat-sheet headline, with his standout trait being football IQ and a willingness to do the dirty work in coverage and run support. If your team wants a tough, adaptable defensive back with a team-first mentality, Chaney fits the mold; if you need a high-volume playmaker, he’s more of a complement than a centerpiece.
