a hard-hitting Alabama State defensive back with proven playmaking flash
Demetrius Derico’s profile suggests a DB who can flash in the run game and create momentum swings, with one Alabama State game report noting nine tackles and a forced fumble in a standout defensive effort. His biggest selling point is the kind of disruptive, physical presence coaches love in the secondary: active hands, willingness to tackle, and a tone-setting edge rather than just passive coverage ability. There is limited current season stat visibility here, so the full 2026 performance picture isn’t clear, but the on-field identity looks like a tough, high-motor defender who fits a team needing urgency and contact in the back end.
