Rose Bowl hero with a booming leg and clutch poise
Matt Boermeester was USC’s left-footed kicker in the 2015-2016 seasons, and his calling card was reliability with pressure-cooker upside: he finished his USC career hitting 57 of 58 extra points (98.3%) and 18 of 25 field goals (72.0%), with a long of 49 yards and 111 points scored. In 2016, he was USC’s most experienced placekicker and delivered the kind of leg and nerve that win close games, including the Rose Bowl winner. The caution flag is the off-field suspension/conduct issue that ended his USC run, so the football fit was strong, but the program fit was complicated.
