Austin Peay’s scoring-point-guard legend still sets the gold standard
Nick Stapleton was a do-it-all lead guard for Austin Peay, finishing as the program’s No. 2 all-time scorer with 2,073 career points, adding 337 assists and 244 made threes in his four-year run. In the 2001-02 season, he posted 23.2 points per game on 44.9% shooting, showing the rare combo of shot-making, volume, and command. What makes him pop beyond the box score is the résumé: three All-OVC honors, a reputation as the program’s greatest scoring point guard, and a proven ability to carry an offense without losing efficiency.
