Vanderbilt’s high-motor, playmaking safety who brings run support and ball skills
Mahoney earned his reputation at Vanderbilt as a physical, assignment-sound defensive back who consistently shows up near the football; in the 2023 season, he led the Commodores with six pass breakups and finished second on the team with 59 tackles. Beyond the box score, evaluators pointed to his strong run-defense grade, compact frame, and competitive style as differentiators, while his pro path suggests he can contribute on special teams and in sub-packages. He fits a team that values toughness, reliability, and a DB who plays with urgency.
