Will Smoot gives UIC a veteran, run-producing bat with multi-position value
In the 2026 season, Will Smoot has been a steady middle-order threat for UIC, leading the Flames in early March with a .306 average, 6 RBI and a home run while also delivering multi-RBI games and extra-base punch.[11] UIC’s staff has leaned on him at catcher, first base and DH because his right-handed power, experience, and ability to drive the ball make him a flexible lineup fit; he also arrived with proven production from Iowa Central and ETSU, including 22 homers and 102 RBI at Iowa Central.[7][9]
