Brent Smith is giving Elon a versatile, contact-first infield bat with sneaky speed
In the 2026 season, Brent Smith has been a useful depth piece for Elon, hitting .215 with 14 hits, 4 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases across 25 games, while also showing enough defensive flexibility to move around the infield. His best calling card is versatility: he has started at third base and handled multiple roles, and his first career multi-hit game came in late March. He may not be the loudest stat line on the board, but the glove, mobility, and hustle make him the kind of scrappy, low-drama player coaches tend to trust.
