Derrick Deese Jr. brings pro-caliber hands and Y-tight-end versatility
Deese is a big-bodied, natural hands catcher who can win in-line or split out, with 2021 San Jose State production of 47 catches, 730 yards, and 4 touchdowns and a career line of 85 catches for 1,142 yards and 11 scores. Evaluators have praised his length, body control, and contested-catch ability, while noting he can function as a true Y tight end rather than just a gadget piece. The knock: he was described as a bit raw as a route runner and not yet a finished blocker, so he fits best with a team that values growth, versatility, and red-zone matchup juice.
