Derrek Pitts Jr. brought veteran, physical cornerback play to NC State
In the 2021 and 2022 seasons at NC State, Derrek Pitts Jr. was a steady, older-transfer corner who started right away and gave the Wolfpack physical edge and experience on the back end. He made a real impact in 2021 with 43 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions and six pass breakups, then followed with 51 tackles in 2022; evaluators and team notes consistently highlight his toughness, versatility, and competitive intensity. The big selling point: a veteran defender who can handle contact, play with urgency, and stabilize a secondary.
