Ryan Stapp Brings Transfer Experience and Depth to Minnesota’s Secondary
Ryan Stapp is a 6-foot, 175-pound defensive back who arrived at Minnesota after playing at Abilene Christian, giving the Gophers a seasoned cover-man with Power 5-level upside and two years of eligibility remaining when he transferred in 2021. He stands out more for experience, positional flexibility, and projectable cornerback traits than for headline-grabbing stats, which makes him the kind of under-the-radar DB who can fit a defense that values discipline, length, and reliable depth.
