USC Safety Richard Hagestad: Smart, Reliable, Walk-On Grinder
Richard Hagestad is a long-time USC safety who stands out more for consistency, intelligence, and value than for flashy box-score production; USC lists him at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, and notes he has been a backup walk-on safety with a 3.50 GPA, which fits the profile of a disciplined, high-character depth piece. In USC’s roster and media guides, he’s been used as a reserve/backup safety, with his best known differentiators being football IQ, versatility, and dependable preparation rather than headline-grabbing stats. If a team wants a cerebral, low-drama defensive back who can absorb the playbook and elevate the room, he’s a fit.
