Freshman LB with Third-Gen Grit and Ball-Hawking Instincts
Eli Wesson, a 6-0, 215-lb freshman linebacker from Shelby, N.C. (Crest HS), stands out as a third-generation Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldog with an innate nose for the ball and relentless intensity that transcends stats. Though he hasn’t yet posted elite tackle numbers in the 2024 season, his differentiators include a family legacy of Bulldog loyalty, a high-pressure personality that elevates team morale, and a coaching staff (under Coach Berry) known for developing players who transition to the next level. With no reported injury history and a fresh, hungry mindset, Wesson is a perfect fit for teams seeking intensity, leadership, and long-term upside over immediate stat dominance.
