David Latta brings proven leg power and veteran feel to McNeese’s punt game
David Latta stands out for consistency and field-position value: he’s been a productive punter with a career profile that includes a 41.4-yard average on McNeese’s all-time list and a 39.2-yard average in a Southland Conference ranking snapshot[1]. That’s the kind of quietly dangerous specialist who can flip a field and save a defense a bad day. The catch: the available public data is dated, so this looks more like a legacy track record than a fresh 2026 form read. If McNeese wants a steady, no-drama punter, Latta’s profile says “reliable ballast,” not “highlight-reel chaos.”[1][5]
