Wichita State's Academic Star and Glue-Guy Forward (2001-04)
Bret Wise, a 6'7" forward for the Wichita State Shockers, averaged 4.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists at 62.4% FG in the early 2000s, helping the team to its best records (18-12, 21-11) since 1989 by sparking turnarounds with selfless play. Excelled academically while being the ultimate team player—reliable, intense, and versatile off the bench. Why care? He's the low-ego differentiator who elevates squads; perfect fit for teams needing smart, tough role players who prioritize winning over stats.
