High-IQ Gonzaga guard whose value was made in the margins
Nathan Doudney’s Gonzaga profile is built more on steady role-player value than eye-popping scoring: in the 2004-05 season he averaged 3.3 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals before a torn ACL ended his 2004-05 campaign, and in 2005-06 he returned in a limited role. The real appeal is his do-it-all guard instincts, toughness, and willingness to defend, move the ball, and fill gaps without hunting shots. If a team wants a dependable connector with basketball IQ and grit, he fits; if it needs a high-usage scorer, he’s not that guy.
