A big-bodied, high-contact catcher who delivered for Utah Tech in 2026
In the 2026 season, Utah Tech catcher Ty Johnsen emerged as a reliable middle-order bat and one of the team’s most productive all-around performers, finishing the regular season hitting .331 with 42 runs, 29 RBI, 30 walks, and 12 extra-base hits while starting 44 of 51 games. He also showed real situational value with hit streak consistency and a knack for turning good at-bats into traffic on the bases, including four steals. At 6-foot-3 and 208 pounds, he brings a power-contact profile, plus enough polish and competitiveness to earn first-team All-WAC recognition.
