Jacob Francis brings top-50 Alabama arm pedigree to UAB, but injury delay clouds the breakout timeline
Jacob Francis is a 6-foot-1 left-hander from Hewitt-Trussville who arrived at UAB as a redshirt freshman after sitting out due to injury, so the key storyline is less about current stat output and more about upside and availability. In the 2025 recruiting cycle, UAB listed him as the No. 43 prospect in Alabama and the No. 7 left-handed pitcher in the state by Perfect Game, with the Blazers also noting he was an honorable mention on the 2025 All-South Metro Team. If your team wants a young, projectable LHP with local pedigree and room to grow, he’s intriguing; if you need immediate innings, the injury pause is the big asterisk.
