Live-Arm Akron RHP Battling Through a Rough 2026
In the 2026 season, Akron right-hander Garrett Groce has shown flashes of swing-and-miss ability, but his results have been inconsistent: he made 16 appearances, logged 15.2 innings, and posted a 14.36 ERA with 11 strikeouts and 22 walks. The good news? He’s still a 6-foot-3 sophomore arm with some projection left, and he has had moments of reliability, including a 2.0-inning scoreless outing with two hits allowed, two walks, and two strikeouts on April 1, 2026. If your staff wants a developmental arm with size and upside, he’s worth a look; if you need immediate command, the fit is shakier.
