Rachael Saunders brings veteran grit, defense, and glue-guy leadership to Creighton
Rachael Saunders is the kind of guard coaches love: a 5-foot-9 veteran who has been a steady two-way connector for Creighton, including a 2022-23 season where she averaged 7.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 47.4% from three in limited attempts. Her calling card is not flashy volume scoring; it is toughness, rebound support from the guard spot, and intangibles that teammates and local coverage have praised, including vocal leadership, loose-ball effort, and the ability to defend bigger players. In short, she looks like a fit for teams that value poise, versatility, and winning habits over highlight-reel glam.
