Southern’s Matt Alvarez: a kicker to watch for consistency and upside
Matt Alvarez is a Southern University specialist worth attention because kickers can swing close games, and his value will come down to consistency under pressure, kickoff reliability, and composure in high-leverage moments. I couldn’t verify a current 2026 Southern stat line from the provided sources, so the safest read is that his appeal is profile-based rather than production-based right now: a team fit should hinge on camp evaluations, range, and mental toughness more than raw volume. If Southern needs a steady, low-drama kicker who can handle pressure, Alvarez is the kind of roster piece that matters when games get tight.
