D’Frantz Smart brings elite passing and disruptive backcourt defense to Rice
Smart stands out as a high-impact guard whose calling card is playmaking: Rice’s roster notes her as the program’s career assist leader with 580 assists, and recent team context also shows she can contribute across the board with scoring, rebounds, and steals. That combination of steady ball-handling, court vision, and defensive activity makes her a strong fit for teams that value a poised facilitator who can also create possessions without dominating the ball. The main question for evaluators is less about effort or toughness and more about how her game scales against faster, more physical competition.
