a familiar VMI name, but not a current Keydets tight end
For the 2026 VMI roster, Jay Garrett does not appear as a current Keydets tight end; the available VMI roster and team pages instead list other TEs, and the best-matching Jay Garrett records point to older football history from the late 1990s and early 2000s. In short: there is no reliable current-performance case to make for him as a present-day VMI TE, so he is not a fit for a team looking for an actively contributing 2026 collegiate tight end.
