Gus McKay gives UIW a sturdy lefty arm with starter and swingman value
In the 2026 season, Gus McKay has been a useful two-way pitching piece for Incarnate Word, working both out of the bullpen and in the rotation while posting multiple outings of real length, including a six-inning, five-strikeout effort against SLU and a strong two-inning, no-run relief outing against Abilene Christian. He is not flashy, but he’s built on versatility, competitive fire, and the ability to give UIW innings when needed—exactly the kind of left-handed pitcher coaches trust when they want stability more than sizzle.
