Ferson Stafford adds depth and toughness to UAB’s secondary
Ferson Stafford, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound safety from Phenix City, Ala., was listed by UAB as a junior and valuable depth piece in the Blazers’ secondary; in the 2009 season, he played in 11 games with two starts, recorded 20 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup. His appeal is the classic under-the-radar DB profile: quick, willing in run support, and trusted enough to get snaps when injuries hit the back end. If you want a dependable rotational defender who can contribute without needing the spotlight, Stafford fits that mold well.
