Dennis Butler brought lockdown coverage and hard-hitting edge to Illinois State
Dennis Butler was a defensive back for Illinois State who was praised for being a strong cover guy with the willingness to come up and deliver hard tackles, plus return-game value that made him more than just a DB. In his junior-college track record before arriving at Illinois State, he posted six interceptions in one season and was a multi-year all-conference performer, which points to real ball skills and playmaking instincts. That profile says “physical, versatile, and disruptive” — the kind of defender who fits a defense looking for toughness and confidence on the back end.
