Spanish guard with upside, but still a developing piece at South Alabama
Aroa Mangas arrived from Salamanca, Spain as a 5'9" guard with a youth-national-team résumé and a reputation for getting there through opportunity, not hype, which is a nice little basketball origin story. In her 2024-25 season, she played sparingly but flashed a clear specialty: five made field goals, all threes, across 10 games and 34 minutes, suggesting a perimeter-oriented role with shooting upside. She also played in Spain’s U18 Championship and is a two-time U16 3x3 champion, so the motor and competitive instincts are real. She looks like a low-usage, system-fit guard who could grow into a useful spacing weapon if the shot keeps leveling up.
