Calvin Proskey brings strikeout stuff, comeback grit, and mid-rotation upside for UCSB
In the 2025 season, Proskey posted a 3.78 ERA with 71 strikeouts and just 17 walks in 66 2/3 innings, then in 2026 returned from an elbow injury and helped UCSB in big moments, including a near-perfect opener against No. 14 USC and strong work in a win over UCLA. He’s a righty with starter traits, four pitches, and enough poise to miss bats without living in the heart of the zone. The question isn’t whether he competes — it’s whether your staff wants a polished, resilient arm with real upside and a little sneaky swagger.
