Virginia’s steady righty: Drew Koenen brings strike-throwing, poise, and late-inning value
In the 2025 season, Drew Koenen was a quietly important bullpen arm for Virginia, going 3-0 with a 2.63 ERA in 20 relief appearances and 17 strikeouts in 13.2 innings, while also working multiple clean leverage spots for the Cavaliers. The appeal is the mix: a big right-handed frame, enough swing-and-miss to matter, and the kind of calm, innings-eating flexibility coaches love in a matchup reliever. He looks like a good fit if your team wants a low-drama, high-utility arm who can stabilize the middle-to-late innings.
