Madei Williams brings veteran QB savvy, but the Salukis story points to a different Williams under center
Southern Illinois’s current quarterback spotlight appears to be on DJ Williams, not Madei Williams: DJ posted 2,846 passing yards, 22 TDs, 847 rushing yards, and 18 rushing TDs in the 2025 season, making him a true dual-threat engine. That said, the Madei Williams record tied to SIU is an older 2001 transfer who was described as a proven quarterback and added value with mobility and experience; the differentiator there was steadiness, not flash. If you’re evaluating fit, SIU’s QB profile suggests the team values playmaking, toughness, and run threat over pure pocket passing.
