UNM's Enigmatic Senior LB from the Class of 2008
Spencer Merritt, a 6-2, 187-pound senior linebacker for the New Mexico Lobos, committed back in January 2008 from Waubonsie Valley High in Aurora, IL, marking him as a long-haul Lobos loyalist with deep program roots. Reliable sources like On3, 247Sports, and ESPN highlight his outside linebacker athleticism and enrollment status, but scant recent stats or performance data suggest a low-profile contributor rather than a stat-sheet dominator. His differentiator? Battle-tested tenacity and positional versatility in UNM's defense—ideal for teams seeking gritty, experienced depth without splashy rankings. Care if you value reliability over hype; solid fit for developmental schemes.
