Chattanooga’s Former matchup-night cheat code at tight end
In the 2014 season, Faysal Shafaat was a true hybrid weapon for Chattanooga: a 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end who turned into a two-time All-American and a three-time All-Southern Conference selection, finishing his Mocs career with 125 catches, 1,204 yards, and 18 touchdowns. What made him special wasn’t just the production, but the “receiver made into a tight end” feel—reliable hands, red-zone juice, and enough versatility for coaches to move him around and build game plans around him. He was the kind of player defenses had to account for, every snap.
