Long, disruptive UAB edge presence with NFL-caliber traits
In the 2020 season at UAB, Jordan Smith flashed as a high-upside disruptor, finishing with 43 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and an interception, while his earlier 2019 production included 56 pressures, among the nation’s better pass-rush outputs. His calling card is rare length and burst off the edge, with enough power and motor to stress tackles and chase plays down; the knock from evaluators was that his pass-rush plan was still raw, so he fit best as a developmental, high-ceiling fit rather than a polished plug-and-play linebacker. In short: if a defense wants speed, length, and upside, he’s intriguing; if it wants instant completeness, he’s more of a project.
