Late Binghamton forward Calistus Anyichie was a high-motor, rim-protecting prospect with real upside
In the 2018-19 season, Calistus Anyichie flashed the profile of a dependable interior forward for Binghamton: he played in 32 games, averaged 1.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.1 minutes, shot 56% from the field, and finished with 21 blocks, third on the team. He also delivered in big moments, including seven rebounds, four points, and a block in Binghamton’s upset of Stony Brook in the America East quarterfinals. The big differentiator was his size-and-energy combo as a 6-foot-9 presence who could protect the rim and compete physically, with reports at the time suggesting he was trending toward a larger role before his tragic death in July 2019.
