High-Energy G/F with Elite Steals for Southern Jaguars
Desmond Griffin, the Guard/Forward for Southern University Jaguars, averaged 4.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in the 2024-25 season with a 34.9% field goal percentage[5]. While his scoring efficiency is modest, Griffin's true differentiator is his defensive intensity and ball-hawking ability, evidenced by his 29 steals in 25 games during the 2024-25 season (a stat carried from his similar profile at MSU Comets)[3]. He plays with relentless energy, rarely hesitating on the court, and brings a 'winning-now' personality that elevates team morale. Though he has no major injury history, his low assist numbers (0.6) suggest he thrives more as a finisher and defender than a primary playmaker. For teams seeking a high-intensity, steal-ready G/F who fits well in transition and off-ball defense, Griffin is an excellent fit, especially if paired with a high-usage scorer.
