Sam Wheeler brings old-school Hokies tight end grit — athletic, reliable, and dangerous after the catch
In the 2006 season, Virginia Tech TE Sam Wheeler flashed real mismatch value: he caught 13 passes for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns, then added a 53-yard score in the bowl game, showing he can turn a routine snap into a chunk play. Descriptions from Virginia Tech coverage call him athletic and strong in the passing game, not just a blocker, with a 500-pound back squat underscoring his functional power. If a team wants a tight end who can line up, compete, and make defenses respect the seam, Wheeler fits the bill.
