Versatile, high-IQ Michigan linebacker who played above his size
Barrett was a productive, undersized-but-tough Michigan linebacker who helped anchor a national-title defense in 2023 and was twice named All-Big Ten; his calling card is versatility, instincts, and a chip-on-the-shoulder mentality that translates well to special teams and hybrid defensive roles.[1][3][4] In 2023, he posted 39 tackles for Michigan, and evaluators noted that he wins with feel, urgency, and proven production rather than prototype size, making him a good fit for teams that value smart, aggressive defenders who can move around the formation.[1][4]
