Blake Gideon Brings Elite Texas Secondary Pedigree and a Proven Turnaround Track Record
Blake Gideon is a strong fit for a program that wants discipline, ball production, and a coach who knows Texas football inside and out. A former All-Big 12 safety at Texas, he helped the Longhorns become one of the nation’s best pass defenses in 2024, including No. 1 nationally in interceptions and pass-efficiency defense, and he earned 2024 National Defensive Backs Coach of the Year honors from FootballScoop. His differentiators are instincts, consistency, and accountability—he was a four-time honorable mention All-Big 12 selection as a player and has a reputation for detail-driven, physically tough secondaries.
