Former UMass guard turned coaching-minded program builder
Chris Lydon’s UMass playing days are in the rearview, and the available evidence points to a smart, high-IQ basketball lifer rather than a current Minutemen on-court contributor. A Boston native and former UMass walk-on who earned a scholarship, he’s since built a reputation as a player-development and recruiting coach, including helping Tufts to a 66-20 record and an Elite Eight run in the 2025-26 season. If you value toughness, attention to detail, and someone who knows the grind from walk-on to scholarship to coach, he’s your guy.
