Kansas RHP Daniel Lopez Brings Power Stuff and Big-Moment Strikeout Upside
Daniel Lopez is a high-upside Kansas right-hander whose calling card is bat-missing velocity: his fastball has reportedly touched 98 mph, and at Odessa College in 2025 he posted 81 strikeouts in 49.2 innings, including a 14-strikeout outing that earned WJCAC Pitcher of the Week honors.[10][11] He also helped Odessa win the WJCAC title, which suggests he has already shown he can contribute in a winning environment.[10] The main question is command, since he also issued 38 walks, but if Kansas wants a power arm with real swing-and-miss traits, Lopez fits that profile.[10][11]
