Former Alabama A&M DB who earned preseason SWAC buzz
In the 2006 season, Marcus Black was recognized as a first-team preseason All-SWAC defensive back for Alabama A&M, a strong signal that he was viewed as one of the conference’s more complete cover men[7]. He also showed up on game defensive stat lines with tackles, a tackle for loss, an interception, and pass breakups, suggesting a physical, disruptive style rather than a pure stay-at-home corner[3]. The main appeal: he looked like a hard-nosed, playmaking DB with veteran respect and ball-hawking upside—exactly the kind of defender who can fit a competitive secondary[2][7].
