Block-Rate Beast, Rebound Anchor, Old-School Rim Protector
In the 2018-19 season, Brandon Gilbeck led all NCAA Division I players with 3.42 blocks per game and finished his Western Illinois career as the program’s all-time block leader, which tells you exactly why he mattered: elite rim protection, strong rebounding, and a defensive presence that changes shots before they even go up. He was also a high-efficiency finisher around the basket, but the scouting knock was clear—limited perimeter range and modest free-throw shooting. If you want a true paint anchor with disruptive defensive instincts, he’s your guy.
