Lawson Estes brings freshman size and a clean slate to Samford’s secondary
Lawson Estes is a freshman safety for Samford in the 2026 season, listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, which gives him a rangy frame for the back end of a defense. Early public stat pages show no meaningful game log yet, so the best read is upside: he looks like a developmental defensive back with size, a physical profile, and room to grow into a versatile coverage-and-run-support role. If a team wants length, athletic projection, and long-term potential over instant production, Estes is the kind of under-the-radar piece worth watching.
