dependable SMU secondary piece with room to climb
KJ Ellis is listed by ESPN as an SMU defensive back/cornerback from Arlington, Texas, but the publicly available stat trail is thin, which usually points to a role player or developing contributor rather than a proven headline-grabber. The upside case is easy to like: if SMU is keeping him around, he likely offers versatility, practice consistency, and the kind of steady, coachable profile that fits a winning defensive room. For a team seeking a polished, low-drama back-end defender with growth potential, he’s worth a closer look.
