Ben Asmussen brings Michigan-tested polish and Pitt-ready upside to the Panthers’ right side
A freshman RHP for Pitt in the 2026 season, Ben Asmussen arrives with legit pedigree: he was a four-year varsity starter at Detroit Catholic Central, posted a 1.71 career high school ERA, and was ranked among Michigan’s top 20 right-handed pitchers and the nation’s top 300 players. His profile suggests a steady, competitive arm rather than a lottery ticket—good strike-throwing background, strong academics, and a proven track record against quality competition. If your team wants a composed young pitcher with room to grow and a high floor, he’s the kind of arm that quietly becomes annoying in the best possible way.
