veteran Toreros guard with a grinder’s résumé
Mitch Schafer is a former San Diego guard who gave the Toreros a steady, low-usage backcourt presence in the 2016-17 through 2018-19 seasons, appearing in 10 total games over that span and logging only a handful of minutes and stats. What stands out most is not box-score volume but reliability, experience, and a team-first profile—plus the kind of workmanlike background that coaches usually love in practice and depth roles. If you need a proven rotation piece, his value was in maturity and steadiness more than flash.
