Zach Hampton brings size, contact-oriented upside, and pro-style physicality to UMBC's infield
Hampton is a 6'1", 215-pound infielder who gives UMBC a sturdy, physical presence and enough bat-to-ball ability to stay on the field. In the 2026 season, he hit .200 with a .500 on-base percentage in a small sample, showing some ability to get on base even while the batting line was modest. The differentiator is his build and versatility: he looks more like a run-producing corner infielder than a lightweight speed profile, which can fit a team that values strength, toughness, and upside over flash.
