CSUN’s steady floor general with a history of making the Matadors hum
Hayley Tanabe is a compact, high-IQ guard who built her CSUN reputation on toughness, playmaking, and minutes-eating reliability; in the 2019-20 season she ranked fifth in the Big West in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0) and seventh in assists (107), while also finishing with 403 career assists and top-five school marks in minutes played and starts. Her best trait is that she makes a team organized, calm, and harder to press—exactly the kind of connector guard coaches love when they want structure, poise, and leadership more than empty box-score flash.
